About Us – Wathen’s Transmission

For Darrell & Sandy Wathen, Wathen’s Transmission is more than a place people bring their cars for service and repairs. It is a fun place to meet new friends and continue longtime friendships.

With many years of experience as an automotive technician, Darrell started Wathen’s Transmission in 1994. It did not take long for Wathen’s Transmission to be recognized as the best place to have transmission repairs done in Owensboro and the surrounding area. While Darrell is a transmission specialist, it was not his technical expertise that made people seek him out when they had a transmission problem. It was his reputation for being honest and dependable. It was like doing business with a friend.
As the business grew, Darrell added staff and instilled in his crew the same treat our customers like your friends approach to the business. Today, Wathen’s Transmission employees family members to continue growing the family business.

Darrell & Sandy both were born and raised in Owensboro. After marrying in 1981, Darrell worked towards his goal of running his own automotive shop. His dream because a reality in 1994 when he started Wathen’s Transmission.
